The global network uniting humanity was one of the great visions that inspired
technologists, even if, practically, it might be impossible to achieve.
So many innovators were ill-served by the bad business models venture capitalists
dangled in front of them, and then disappointed by the way their ideas were transmogrified
in the manic grasp for quick wealth. However, they are still out there thinking, and my
hope is that a saner method of incorporating internet technologies into business will
contain their sparks of genius, as true technological innovation benefits us all.
Just because many were “infected with the disease” of the dot.com bubble doesn’t mean
a global network isn’t worth the effort. But I am wondering what everyone thinks.
