Dumb economics.....
I for
one am pretty annoyed by the fact that in this day and age we seem to have a
global' economy....
Why? Let me
challenge you to comment...
Although most of the world as we know
it does not have internet access (in terms of number of earth inhabitants),
that was the big hype that turned the
dot-oms on in the U.S. Some other areas were 'ínfected' with the 'disease' as
well
(Europe, Japan) but on a lesser scale.
Many of us over here were pretty skeptical about the whole concept of pouring
money (by VC's) in anything having to
do with .com. And in the end it turns out we were right. Somebody left the
balloon
to fly without tying it's end
securely.... it flew very fast up into the air, deflating at the same time.
And then it fell back to
earth as a worthless piece of
rubber.
The thing that annoys me about all
that is the fact that now reasonably healthy economies in other regions of the
world are being dragged down as well.
Basically for no reason other than 'panic'. Companies are laying of staff,
it's more difficult to get a job (even
if those jobs have absolutely nothing to do with one of the hot-air companies
mentioned before), local stock
exchanges are affected and so on.
This sort of thing makes the world put
on the economic brakes and makes people think they should build islands
and don't let anybody else on it.
Perhaps it would have been better if we would not have had all these big
cables
running over the Ocean floor
connecting the old and the new world?
